The exploitation of the copper mines of Thillot, by the Dukes of Lorraine, dates back to 1560. The wealth of the veins of the Upper Moselle Valley and the know-how of the miners generated mining activity which reached its peak in the 17th century. century and lasted until 1761.
The Terrae Genesis Geology Center is located on the historic site of the Société des Granits Porphyroides des Vosges, which was established there at the end of the 19th century near the platforms of the Syndicat-Saint-Amé station. The Mondial Granit company, a leading granite trading company in France, had established its premises and a park there, a veritable showroom for granites from all over the world. The Espace Granit association began by preserving and promoting the old trades linked to the exploitation and industry of granite in the Vosges. It has collected and presents to the public most of the machines and equipment used in the exploitation of granite in the Vosges: a reconstructed forge, sawing and handling equipment, a polishing workshop, a forge, etc.

On July 20, 1915, a bloody battle began at Col du Linge which saw thousands of French and German fighters clash mercilessly.
The Col du Linge Museum and its battlefield retrace this terrible confrontation. Visiting the museum and walking through the Lingekopf trenches is to tread the land of these soldiers, and to pay homage to these heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend their homeland.
